The fruit in our latest Reserve Shiraz Viognier is grown at Angullong vineyard in Orange NSW, at 660m altitude.
This wine is a blend of 97% Shiraz with 3% Viognier.
Viognier is included to provide heightened aromatic complexity, and to contribute texture to the palate.
There are bright, intoxicating fragrances of blackberry, black plum, ripe spice (cinnamon, nutmeg), ripe apricot, musk, and mocha.
The palate has beautiful ripe flavours and mid-palate richness, with a lovely lacing of ripe silky tannin. Balanced acidity provides structural support to the soft, round texture - perfect with red meat.
For best enjoyment, remove cork and let breathe for an hour before serving.
This wine will age very well over the next 5 years. A harmless deposit will form due to minimal filtration.
"Excellent colour, bright and dark, with the flavour to match. The quality here hovers around high levels throughout. It tastes of plum, black olive, dark chocolate and spice, the viognier both obvious and well-applied at once. It has good length and fine, assertive tannin but where it really builds its appeal is via silken, supple mouthfeel." 94 points- James Halliday Wine Companion 2016
