Normally we make two styles of Tempranillo: a light, juicy, red fruited style of Tempranillo from our own vines here in Bowral; and a more robust style with significantly more ripeness and weight from Central Ranges, NSW (Ben and James Crossings’ Angullong vineyard, at 660m altitude).
The complex nose reveals aromas of spiced dark fruits, dark olive, chocolate, coffee and licorice.
The palate has great richness and ripeness, with the typical cool climate elegance and structure we get from this vineyard.
There is fantastic flavour density and volume, with a significant amount of ripe tannin complementing hearty food.
This wine will gain even more harmony in time as the tannins soften.
Great with roast beef and lamb.
