Arneis originates from Piedmont, Italy. Arneis means “little rascal”- so called because it is a difficult variety to grow.
The 2014 Reserve Arneis is made from fruit grown at Rowlee Vineyard, Orange, and estate grown fruit here in Bowral.
Partial wild fermentation in French oak (2% new) with regular battonage (lees stirring) has added complex nutty almond characters to the subtle pear, golden delicious apple, and herbal core.
The palate has a pleasant crispness, yet is ripe and mouth filling with excellent weight and texture.
A delightfully different, but very easy drinking wine that partners well with seafood.
Drink now to 2019.
