The fruit for this wine was grown by Vin de Vie Vineyard in Orange at an altitude of 850m. The ideal conditions throughout the growing season provided ripe and fleshy fruit with balanced acidity.
The nose offers ripe lemon and ruby grapefruit, some pretty jasmine-like florals at this youthful stage, lime leaf, and some riper exotic fruits. There are still hints of yeastiness coming through as a result of lees stirring the wine for 3 months prior to bottling to build in some additional texture and complexity.
The palate shows great ripeness and texture with ripe lemon and pink grapefruit flavours.
It is a fleshy style of Riesling that is very accessible even at this very young wine age.
The 125 denotes 12% alcohol and 5g/L of residual sugar, yet this wine has a dry finish as the high natural acidity offsets this sugar.
Fantastic summer lunch wine, great as an aperitif, and perfect with fresh seafood.
Drink now, or watch the wine develop over the next decade.
