Depending on the season, our estate-grown Pinot Gris vines either make a lighter styled wine (Pinot Grigio), or a riper, more textural style (Pinot Gris), or both.
To add both aromatic and textural complexity to the core of red apple and kiwifruit flavours, a small percentage was wild fermented in old French Oak.
On the nose there are aromas of red apple, pineapple and kiwifruit, fresh summer herbs.
Note that at this youthful stage (August ’18) there is a touch of aromatic fruit ester present in the form of pineapple/banana. This will subside as time goes on. It acts to give a lift to the aroma profile.
The palate is juicy, light and crisp. Red delicious apple and kiwifruit flavours run the full length of the palate. The finish is long and satisfying, and dangerously easy to drink, making for the perfect summer wine. Drink now to 2022, serve with fresh summer seafood and salads.
