Our 2016 Reserve Pinot Gris was made from fruit grown at both Rowlee Vineyard in Orange, NSW, and Bowral in the Southern Highlands.
We make 2 different wines from Pinot Gris – the lighter-styled Grigio which is picked earlier, and the richer-styled Gris which is picked later.
The juice was entirely fermented in 7-10 year old French oak barrels with a portion left to ferment using wild yeast (25%).
The complex nose shows spicy pear and yellow apple, together with subtle old-barrel/leesy influence.
There are beautiful palate flavours of ripe golden delicious apple, juicy pear, and texture gained from maturation on lees in old barrels.
A very easy wine to drink, pairing well with pork, chicken and richer seafood.
Drink now to 2021.
