Depending on the season, our estate-grown Pinot Gris vines either make a lighter styled wine (Pinot Grigio), or a riper, more textural style (Pinot Gris), or both. In 2019 we were fortunate to make both. The Pinot Gris is currently in old barrels and will get bottled in Feb ’20.
A little bit more skin contact this year has given the wine a slight copper colour.
To add both aromatic and textural complexity to the core of red apple, kiwifruit and pineapple flavours, a small percentage was wild fermented in old French Oak.
On the nose there are aromas of fresh red & yellow apple, pear, pineapple and kiwifruit.
The palate is crisp, juicy and full flavoured with red apple, pineapple and kiwifruit flavours running the full length of the zesty palate. The finish is long and satisfying, and dangerously easy to drink, making for a refreshing summer wine. Drink now to 2024, serve with fresh summer seafood and salads.
