The fruit for our Reserve Shiraz Viognier is grown at Angullong vineyard in Orange NSW, at 660m altitude. This vintage shows concentrated and ripe Shiraz character as a result of warm and dry growing conditions throughout the almost perfect 2019 growing season. This wine is a blend of 96% Shiraz, co-fermented with 4% Viognier.
Viognier is included to enhance aromatic complexity, and to contribute texture to the palate. The perfumed nose shows ripe, dark, lifted fruit flavours (blackberry, black cherry), violets, ripe spices, with subtle coffee oak.
The medium-full bodied palate has beautifully ripe blackberry and black cherry flavours with a lovely lacing of ripe, silky tannin. This vintage again shows excellent mid-palate weight and flesh. Perfect with red meat. For best enjoyment, remove cork and let breathe for an hour before serving. This wine will age very well over the next decade. A harmless deposit could form due to minimal filtration. Drink now to 2033.
