Description
Normally we make two styles of Tempranillo: a light, juicy, red fruited and spicy style of Tempranillo from our own vines here in Bowral (Winery Block Tempranillo); and a more robust style (Reserve Tempranillo) with significantly more ripeness and weight from Central Ranges, NSW (Ben and James Crossings’ Angullong vineyard, at 660m altitude).
The pure and subtle nose reveals aromas of red currant and red plum. Minimal oak influence was sought in order to highlight the delicate grape flavours of this vintage. The palate has great balance and approachability. The Tempranillo tannins are there, but this vintage they are quite ripe and silky. Overall, this is an easy drinking red that will gain more harmony in time – put 6 in the rack and try one each 6 months. Great with roast beef and lamb. Drink now to 2029.
