This Rosé was made entirely from Mataro grapes grown in the Riverland, South Australia. We were fortunate to source these grapes in a year where everything else was tainted by smoke.
The grapes were specifically picked at optimum ripeness for Rosé, crushed and pressed to yield a lightly coloured red juice which was subsequently fermented like a white wine, including 25% component fermented with wild yeast. There are aromas of orange zest, mandarin and watermelon which are complexed by some interesting wild ferment characters.
The soft, fleshy palate has attractive melon flavours and textures, concluding in a satisfying, dry finish. Overall, this is a delicious, approachable Rosé style that is very versatile with food.
Great with hors d’oeuvres, or just by itself! Serve chilled. Drink now to 2024.
