Depending on the season, our estate-grown Pinot Gris vines either make a lighter styled wine (Pinot Grigio), or a riper, more textural style (Pinot Gris), or both. In 2021, we were only able to make a Grigio from the Estate-grown vines. We do, however, have a batch of Tumbarumba Pinot Gris in old barrels for bottling in Feb ’22.
A little bit of skin contact has given the wine a very slight copper colour. To add both aromatic and textural complexity to the core of red apple, citrus oil and kiwifruit flavours, a small percentage was wild fermented in old French Oak. On the nose there are aromas of fresh red & green apple, lime, grapefruit, kiwifruit.
The palate is crisp and juicy with red apple, pineapple and kiwifruit flavours running the full length of the zesty palate. The finish is long and satisfying, and dangerously easy to drink, making for a refreshing summer wine. Drink now to 2025, serve with fresh summer seafood and salads.
