This wine was made entirely from fruit grown here at the Winery Block in Bowral, and is our third Albarino release. Albarino is traditionally grown in Spain and Portugal, and tends to produce a clean and citrussy style with high natural acidity and moderate alcohol levels. It’s refreshing, zesty flavours accompany seafood well. To add both aromatic and textural complexity, 33% was fermented on full lees in old French Oak.
On the nose there are malty, leesy aromas showing some old barrel ageing, together with citrussy grapefruit, and subtle floral notes. The energetic and very lively palate has crisp citrussy acid running alongside the mandarin, tangerine and grapefruit flavours. The lees ageing has added texture and volume resulting in an excellent summer wine. Drink now to 2030. Serve with fresh summer seafood and salads.
