This wine was made entirely from fruit grown here at the House Block in Bowral.
Gewurztraminer suits our cool climate vineyard well boasting distinctive spicy fragrances of rosewater, lychee, rock melon, and musk.
Neither too big and heavy, nor too light, this style illustrates the spicy nature of Gewurztraminer in a light-medium bodied frame featuring delicacy and finesse.
The palate is crisp and juicy with spiced ripe apple, lychee, and kiwifruit flavours featuring through the long and textural finish. A very slight spritz gained by retaining as much of the natural fermentation gas (CO2) has provided a welcome zing to compliment the soft and juicy flavours.
This wine is delightfully different and perfect as an aperitif, and great with Asian-styled food. Serve chilled. Drink now to 2021.
90 Points James Halliday Wine Companion 2020.
“As with the case of the Riesling, from the home vineyard at Bowral, and made in a near-identical fashion. Spice, in particular, marks its variety, venturing towards fresh ginger and lychee on the palate” – James Halliday, August 2019
