The fruit for our Reserve Shiraz Viognier is grown at Angullong vineyard in Orange NSW, at 660m altitude. This vintage shows ripe and concerntrated Shiraz character as a result of warm and dry growing conditions throughout the 2016 growing season.
This wine is a blend of 96% Shiraz with 4% Viognier.
Viognier is included to provide enhance aromatic complexity, and to contribute texture to the palate.
The perfumed nose shows ripe, dark fruit flavours (blackberry, black plum, prune), ripe spices, with very subtle coffee and chocolate oak..
The full-bodied palate has beautifully ripe and elegant flavours with a lovely lacing of ripe, silky tannin. This vintage shows excellent mid-palate weight and flesh as a result of the warm and dry conditions allowing the fruit to reach optimum ripeness.
Perfect with red meat.
For best enjoyment, remove cork and let breathe for an hour before serving.
This wine will age very well over the next few years. A harmless deposit could form due to minimal filtration.
