Two Southern Highlands Artists, One Stunning Showcase: Art and Emotion Meet at Centennial Vineyards This Winter

Winter Artists in Residence: Kate Friesenecker & Sonja Bowden

Centennial Vineyards Cellar Door is proud to present a soulful dual exhibition from Southern Highlands artists Kate Friesenecker and Sonja Bowden, curated by The Pop-Up Project.

Running throughout June and July, this exhibition invites guests into a beautiful conversation between expressive landscape oils and exquisite coloured pencil realism – set against the scenic backdrop of Bowral’s award-winning wine country.

From her peaceful Bundanoon studio, oil painter and art therapistKate Frieseneckercaptures more than just landscapes - she channels emotion, energy and healing into every canvas. Kate’s work draws from her diverse background in marketing, education and therapeutic arts to create pieces that resonate on a deeper level.

Kate’s oil paintings are powerful reflections of nature’s beauty and its ability to ground, inspire and transform.

“Art helps you see differently and feel more deeply,”says Kate.“I believe in its ability to communicate and heal.”

In contrast - and perfect complement -Sonja Bowden (SB Illustrations)brings meticulous detail to life through her hyper-realistic coloured pencil drawings. With a lifelong love of animals and a background in design and equine care, Sonja creates portraits rich in character, emotion and natural beauty.

Every feather, mane and eye is rendered with incredible care - the result of close observation and deep reverence for her subjects. Her work has been recognised in major Australian art prizes and is sought after by collectors around the country.

Set within the welcoming surrounds ofCentennial Vineyards Cellar Door, it’s a celebration of art, storytelling and local creative talent.
